Gillian is a member of the Southern Rail APPG, with the aim to scrutinise the operation and performance of the Southern Rail franchise with a view to ensuring service improvement by the franchise. The group acts for the best interests of passengers by providing challenge to all organisations, including the government, which have a bearing on operational performance.



Update from Gillian Keegan MP on Southern Rail

I have received a letter from the Secretary of State for Transport, The Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP, who has informed me that ASLEF union has agreed to end their dispute with GTR on Driver Controlled Operation. The union voted 79% in favour of ending the dispute with 87% turnout.

Chichester MP comments on RMT Strikes

It has been announced the RMT have decided to hold their 37th and 38th strike on the 8th and 9th November. I am very frustrated that this decision has been taken, along with the lack of progress in talks.

RMT urges transport secretary to intervene in Southern row

A rail workers' union has called for "urgent intervention" by the transport secretary to help resolve the Southern Rail dispute.

The RMT has written to Chris Grayling urging him to convene talks with all sides in the 16-month-long row over staffing and driver-only trains.
