CCTV Policy

  1. Purpose of the CCTV System The CCTV system is installed to enhance the security of the MP's office, ensuring the safety of staff, visitors, and the office. ADT handles the security of MP’s homes and offices. An assessment of our constituency office was carried out by ADT and it was considered necessary and proportionate to install and use a CCTV system.

  1. Location of cameras A camera is located near the door to our office. Its view has been limited to ensure the privacy of other tenants in our building and its view is restricted to the door to our office. We also have an intercom to confirm the identity of a visitor. Both the camera and the intercom are clearly visible. Appropriate signs are displayed so that visitors and other occupants of the building are aware they are entering an area covered by CCTV.

  1. Data Controller The Data Controller for the CCTV system is Gillian Keegan.

  1. Contact For any queries or concerns related to the CCTV system, please contact Gillian Keegan via gillian.keegan.mp@parliament.uk.

  1. Lawful Basis for Processing The CCTV system processes data under the legitimate interest of Gillian Keegan for security purposes. This is in line with the processing of data to support or promote democratic engagement and to ensure the safety and security of the premises.

  1. Data Sources The data captured by the CCTV system includes video recordings from a camera.

  1. Data Security All CCTV footage is stored electronically and securely. Access to this data is restricted to authorized personnel only.

  1. Data Retention Policy CCTV footage will be retained for a maximum of 30 days, after which it will be automatically deleted, unless required for evidential purposes or an ongoing investigation.

  1. Access to CCTV Footage Individuals have the right to request access to CCTV footage in which they appear. Such requests will be handled in accordance with the Subject Access Requests process outlined in the main Privacy Policy. Proof of identity will be required for such requests. All requests for disclosure and access to images will be documented, including the date of the disclosure, to whom the images have been provided and the reasons why they are required. If you wish to access any CCTV images relating to you, you must make a written request to Gillian Keegan as the Data Controller. This can be done by using the email address: gillian.keegan.mp@parliament.uk. Your request must include the data and approximate time when the images were recorded so that images can be easily located. The request will be processed by ADT who manage and review our constituency office security measures.

  1. Sharing of CCTV Footage CCTV footage may be shared with third parties, such as law enforcement agencies, if required by law or if deemed necessary for investigative purposes. Any third parties accessing the footage are obliged to maintain its confidentiality and use it solely for the intended purpose.

  1. Updates to the CCTV Policy This CCTV policy may be updated periodically.
