As part of Operation Bridger, we operate one CCTV camera in our constituency office (St John’s House, St John’s Street, Chichester, PO19 1UU). This is located outside of our office door and its field of view is limited to our door and the approaching path. We believe that CCTV plays a legitimate role to keep the member and member’s staff secure. An independent security survey recommended the installation of CCTV to ensure visibility for facial recognition and evidential purposes if an incident were to occur. Our CCTV is separate to the CCTV that operates in the reception of our office building.
Images recorded by CCTV are personal data and as such must be processed in accordance with data protection laws. We are committed to complying with our legal obligations in order to appropriately handle and protect personal data and ensure that the legal rights of our staff, other tenants and guests to the building are recognised and respected.
The Office of Gillian Keegan MP seeks to ensure the security and safety of the member and member’s staff.
The CCTV system is currently used for surveillance purposes only and is live-streamed in our constituency office. No data is stored or recorded at present but we are committed to ensuring we comply with our legal obligations and an updated CCTV policy will be published when the system starts to record.
All measures are open to continual review.
