MP Gillian Keegan joined pupils at Rogate and Rake primary schools for their first big joint activities day since a partnership deal last summer and now share a headteacher. They took part in a host of science, technology, engineering and maths activities.
Hot from a midnight Commons vote, MP Gillian Keegan toured the Rogate school and joined the activities. The day was the brainchild of Rogate teacher Susie McAuley, who said it would have been impossible on this scale for either of the schools on their own.
In the evening, parents from both schools arranged a mixed STEM social event. Mr Bertwistle said "I hope we can do much more of this joint activity. We are lucky to have such talented teachers and this was a good opportunity to show our commitment to the children. I think we were also able to show our MP not only that rural village schools can be viable even these days of ever tighter budgets but also just a little more investment innovative collaboration between them could pay enormous dividends"
