Chichester MP, Gillian Keegan, visited the Midhurst Foodbank Centre on Friday 7 September. Gillian’s visit follows previous visits to the Chichester Food Bank. Gillian first visited the Chichester Centre over Christmas where she spoke to people in using the service and listened to the concerns of those who run it. Since, Gillian has been working with the Chichester Team to help in any way she can for example holding drop-in Advice Surgery’s, so people could come and talk to her privately.
On her recent visit to the Midhurst Centre Gillian held detailed and engaging conversations with volunteers. Much of the conversation regarded key areas such as benefit assessments, universal credit, homelessness, and the closure of Midhurst Community (Cottage) Hospital. The Chichester MP also talked at length to people who came over the course of the afternoon.
After her visit the food bank volunteers said the visit was: ‘Very upbeat, supportive and stimulating, with an MP who appreciated the value of the work being done, and we were delighted to host her.’
Gillian said: ‘It was great to meet such dedicated volunteers who work so hard for people in their community. I hope to visit again soon and continue to work with both the Midhurst and Chichester centres to help people get the support they need.’
