Covid-19 News: New Government COVID support schemes for businesses open in Chichester District

Friday, 18 December, 2020

Three new COVID support schemes for businesses which were announced by the Government are now up and running in Chichester District.

“There are a number of different schemes which we are administering on behalf of the Government, which cover different types of businesses and different circumstances relating to the coronavirus pandemic,” explains Councillor Peter Wilding, Cabinet Member for Finance at Chichester District Council. “The three new schemes relate to the tier restrictions and I would urge all businesses to check our web pages as soon as they can to see whether they are eligible. As ever, our teams are working hard to ensure that grants are paid out to businesses as quickly as possible.”

The Government has announced that a one-off payment of £1,000 will be made available to eligible pubs subject to Tier 2 and Tier 3 restrictions. This is called the ‘Christmas support payment for wet led pubs’. Pubs that are eligible must bring in less than 50% of their income from food sales. All applications must be received by 31 January 2021. Details on the eligibility criteria and to apply are available at http://www.chichester.gov.uk/businessratesnovember2020

Businesses that have been required to close due to Tier 2 local restrictions will be able to apply for grant funding as part of the Local Restrictions Support Grant (closed) scheme. More information is available at http://www.chichester.gov.uk/businessratesnovember2020

In addition, a scheme to support businesses that are experiencing financial losses due to Tier 2 restrictions is also live. This scheme is called Local Restrictions Support Grant (open) and details are available at http://www.chichester.gov.uk/businessratesnovember2020

The council is also reminding businesses that were closed during the recent national restrictions to make sure that they apply for grant funding through http://www.chichester.gov.uk/businessratesnovember2020

Chichester District Council is also still issuing its business recovery grants. More information can be found at www.chichester.gov.uk/covidrecoverygrants
