Both West Sussex County Council and Chichester District Council have decided to move forward with the RIS2 option for the A27. This will ensure extra time for our councils to continue working with the community and Highways England, to come up with a good solution to the long standing congestion problems.
I will continue to support their efforts and will also be holding discussions with the Government and Highways England to secure the funding for the agreed solution. This won't be easy as we will be competing with many other schemes across England. However, I am hopeful that we can get there as the many advantages of improving the A27 around Chichester remain unchanged.
