Fairer Funding in our Schools

Gillian has worked to ensure our schools have extra funding, after decades of historic underfunding.

Gillian lobbied the Secretary of State for Education and the Minister for Schools for further investment many times. Recently the Government announced £14 billion more for schools. Our schools will be receiving £4,416 per pupil at primary and £5,160 at secondary from 2020-21, which is a significant increase.

Ministers must protect funding for state-run nurseries in England or risk seeing schools close, Conservative MPs have warned.

Chichester MP called to “order” by Harting CE Primary

Gillian Keegan MP visited Harting CE Primary School on Friday 15th June. The Chichester MP was shown around to school by two pupils and told about each year group and what the pupils are studying. The Chichester MP was introduced to each of the year groups class pets.

“West Sussex MPs held a meeting with Damian Hinds, the new Education Secretary, on Tuesday evening (17th April). The new Funding Formula is fairer than in the past and has released considerable extra resources to West Sussex.

West Sussex MPs lobbied hard for the introduction of a National Funding Formula, and the extra £28 million for West Sussex schools has gone a considerable way towards making funding fairer. Our secondary schools will receive up to 12 per cent more funding when the Formula is fully implemented.
